Facade: Tschabalala Self—Art Lovers

New MuseumLower East Side
As part of the New Museum’s ongoing Facade Sculpture Program, Tschabalala Self (b. 1990, Harlem, NY; lives and works in Hudson Valley, NY) will present a new site-specific work entitled Art Lovers. Self’s work depicts a romantic scene of a couple embracing, mirroring the architectural “kiss point” where the SANAA-designed building meets the OMA-designed expansion. Visible from Bowery and Prince Street, Art Lovers offers viewers a contemporary portrait of NYC life and the personal connections enabled by public spaces like museums.
