Space Gallery is delighted to present a selection of works on paper and large scale paintings by Mexican artist Sandra Mazoy. The exhibition Revelations presents in her inaugural US show, a ody of work what showcases her abstract language of form and color which has become her artistic signature. She conceives the project as an opportunity to share a part of herself, her emotions, and her particular way of perceiving the world.

Her work is a territory of constant exploration in which each work represents a new possibility. Her primary creative impulse stems precisely from the certainty that there is a universe that can never be exhausted—a world open to infinite combinations, discoveries, and paths yet to be explored.

Mazoy’s creative process begins with an in-depth analysis of form and color. For the artist, creating means entering a space in which infinite paths are possible. It is precisely this uncertainty that fuels her inspiration: the possibility that each new work may lead to an unexpected and different outcome.

Mazoy does not usually begin a painting with a preconceived subject in mind. Titles emerge once the work is complete, as a way of acknowledging what has arisen throughout the creative process. Her visual language develops organically. She begins by drawing lines that gradually build a balanced composition, whether it contains numerous elements or is articulated through greater simplicity. Only afterward does she introduce color, which completes and transforms the formal universe of each piece.

At the heart of her artistic investigation she is fascinated by the symbiosis established between shape and color — their natural coexistence, in which each element retains its identity while simultaneously altering and enhancing the other. For Mazoy, this relationship constitutes an intrinsic value of the work and one of the fundamental keys to her artistic language.

Yet her painting is also an exercise in introspection. At times, when confronted with a completed work, the artist wonders where the chromatic and formal universe within it has come from. The question then becomes a way of understanding and knowing herself more deeply. Painting is, in this sense, a process of personal discovery: through her works, Mazoy gradually comes to know and recognize herself.

Everything that appears in her compositions originates in her own experience: her lived experiences, visions, memories, and the images that have formed part of her life. The artwork thus becomes a place where the conscious and the intuitive meet, and where personal experience acquires a new dimension through form and color.

This is where the title of the exhibition, Revelations, emerges. Each painting constitutes, in some way, a revelation: a fragment of her inner universe that surfaces and becomes visible. Every painting contains a representation of Sandra Mazoy—of her history, her experiences, and her existence; little by little, it reveals the artist herself.

Sandra Mazoy is a Mexican-born, Madrid-based artist whose practice has evolved from graphic design and nearly two decades of teaching into a deeply personal exploration of abstraction, geometry, colour, and light. Drawing on her rigorous understanding of composition, morphology, and visual communication, she creates works in which structure and intuition, transparency and depth, come together to express memory and emotion. Her work has been exhibited in Mexico, Spain, and France, including presentations at Casa Lamm, Galería Nueva, Baluarte, and Art Capital at the Grand Palais in Paris, as well as TIRAMIRA during PHotoESPAÑA 2025. Through her distinctive visual language, Mazoy transforms geometry from a purely rational system into a sensorial and emotional space.
