Casserole Culture — Melissa Joseph

Charles Moffett presents Casserole Culture, Melissa Joseph’s first solo exhibition with the gallery since joining its roster in 2025.

Joseph works primarily in needle-felted wool on industrial felt, translating family photographs and remembered domestic scenes into soft, luminous images, often paired with found objects. New works including 647 Evergreen Rd, After the party, Casserole Country and Curry is a casserole take the potluck table as a figure for care, inheritance and the improvised rituals that hold a household together.

Across the exhibition, Joseph considers home, family and belonging — how the textures of a shared meal carry class, diaspora and memory.
