Privacy Policy

1. Who this applies to

This Privacy Policy explains how Praxima, Inc. (“Praxima,” “we,” “us”) collects, uses, and shares personal information in connection with Praxima Compass and related features (the “Service”), available at compass.praxima.art and through the Praxima app for iOS.

It applies to everyone whose information we handle through the Service — both account holders and visitors who browse without an account. The Service is offered to users in the United States.

2. Information we collect

Information you provide directly

Account and identity: your email address (used to sign in, via magic link or Google on the web, or email-and-password, Apple, or Google in the iOS app). If you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive the name and email address your provider shares with us. If you set up a profile on the web, an optional display name, bio, and avatar.

Content you create:photos and videos you add from your camera or photo library, wall-text captions you scan (text recognition runs on your device), notes and annotations, “tags” and “connections,” collections, and gallery walk lists, along with the public-or-private visibility settings you choose for them.

Communications: anything you send us when you contact customer support.

Information collected automatically

Usage and device data: pages viewed, features used, usage activities, browser and device types, and similar analytics, collected through our analytics provider, PostHog. In the Praxima iOS app we collect anonymous, aggregated product-usage events (for example, which features are opened) through PostHog to understand how the app is used and improve it. These events are not linked to your identity, are not used for advertising or cross-app tracking, and do not include the contents of your notes, photos, or messages. The app does not include advertising SDKs.

Approximate location: derived from your IP address. We do not collect precise device location. In the Praxima iOS app, you may optionally grant access to your device location to center the map on nearby galleries; that location is processed on your device only and is never transmitted to or stored on our servers.

Error and diagnostic data: technical logs, crash reports, and basic performance diagnostics, collected to keep the Service working and to fix bugs. In the Praxima iOS app this is provided by Sentry. Our error monitoring is configured to scrub personal information (including your IP address) from these reports, and the reports are not linked to your identity.

Local storage: if you build a gallery walk list before signing in, it is stored locally in your browser until you create an account, at which point you can save it to your account. The iOS app similarly stores your notes, drafts, and attached media on your device; when you are signed in, the text and photos of your notes also sync to your account.

We do not knowingly collect Social Security numbers, financial account numbers, government IDs, or precise geolocation. The Service does not process payments.

3. How we use information

We use personal information (email address, profile photo, and bio) to:

• provide, operate, and secure the Service, including signing you in;
• display your content according to the visibility settings you choose, including showing content you mark public to other users and to people with a share link;
• respond to your requests and communicate with you about the Service;
• understand how the Service is used and improve it;
• detect, prevent, and address fraud, abuse, and security issues;
• comply with legal obligations.

4. How we share information

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.

We share personal information only as follows:

Service providers (processors). We use third-party vendors to run the Service. They process information on our behalf, under contract, and only for the purposes we direct. In the iOS app, maps are provided by Apple Maps (MapKit) rather than OpenStreetMap, and if you choose Sign in with Apple or Google Sign-In, Apple or Google authenticate you and share with us the name and email address associated with your account. We also use PostHog for product analytics and Sentry for crash and error diagnostics; both process this data on our behalf under contract and only for the purposes we direct.

Other users and the public. Content you mark public, and anything accessible through a share link you generate, is visible to others by design. Information you keep private is not shared this way.

Legal and safety. We may disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights, safety, or property of Praxima, our users, or the public.

Business transfers. If Praxima is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to this Policy.

5. Cookies and similar technologies

We use cookies and local storage to keep you signed in, remember preferences, and support analytics. You can control cookies through your browser settings; disabling some cookies may affect how the Service works.

6. How long we keep information

We keep personal information for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the Service. You can delete your account at any time in the iOS app (Profile → Delete Account) or by emailing privacy@praxima.art. When you delete content or close your account, we delete or deidentify the associated personal information within 30 days, except for limited backups (retained up to 90 days) and information we must keep to comply with this Privacy Policy.

7. How we protect information

We use technical and organizational measures to protect personal information, including encryption in transit, access controls, row-level security on user data, and encrypted backups. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Your privacy rights

California residents (CCPA/CPRA). You have the right to:

• know what personal information we collect, use, and disclose;
• access a copy of your personal information;
• correct inaccurate personal information;
• delete your personal information, subject to legal exceptions;
• opt out of any “sale” or “sharing” of personal information — note that we do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined;
• limit the use of sensitive personal information — note that we do not collect sensitive personal information for purposes that trigger this right.

You will not be discriminated against for exercising these rights.

Residents of other states.Several other U.S. states grant comparable rights (such as access, correction, deletion, and portability). If you live in one of these states, you may exercise the rights available to you under your state’s law using the same contact method below.

How to exercise your rights. Email us at privacy@praxima.art. We will verify your request, typically by confirming control of the email associated with your account, and respond within the timeframe required by law. You may use an authorized agent to submit a request on your behalf.

9. Children

The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them without parental consent. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us personal information, contact privacy@praxima.art, and we will delete it.

10. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date and provide additional notice where appropriate.
